Necessity is the mother of invention and now there’s a new start-up that can help people clean up their social media presence. The recent New York Times article, “Social Media History Becomes a New Job Hurdle,” highlights the typical horror stories of spectres from the past biting job applicants on the tush such is a Craigslist photo or Facebook tag. But the lesson here is not necessarily to spend big bucks to hire a company like this. The lesson is to be prudent in the first place.

REMINDER: Nothing ever vanishes from the Internet. Photos on the Internet never go away. It may be set to private but people can hack in. And even congressmen have been known to post to the wrong email address. Big brother is not only watching you, he’s already friended you.
